{"id":106,"date":"2009-03-14T22:19:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-14T22:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cooleysekula.net\/cooking\/?p=106"},"modified":"2020-12-23T22:20:54","modified_gmt":"2020-12-23T22:20:54","slug":"whole-wheat-walnut-crumb-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooleysekula.net\/cooking\/index.php\/2009\/03\/14\/whole-wheat-walnut-crumb-cake\/","title":{"rendered":"Whole Wheat Walnut Crumb Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><br>STREUSEL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans<br>1\/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar<br>1 tsp cinnamon<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CAKE:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 cups whole wheat flour<br>1 cup sugar<br>3 tsp baking powder<br>1\/2 tsp salt<br>1 cup milk<br>1\/3 cup butter, softened<br>1 egg<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GLAZE:<br>3\/4 cup powder sugar<br>1 to 2 tsp water<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><br>1. Heat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour two 8 or 9 inch round cake pans. In small bowl, mix all streusel ingredients until well blended; set aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine all cake ingredients. Beat at low speed until moistened; beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Spread about 3\/4 cup of batter in each greased and floured pan; sprinkle 1\/4 of streusel mixture evenly over batter in each pan. Carefully spread remaining batter over streusel in each pan; sprinkle with remaining streusel mixture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Bake at 350 F for 20 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly. In small bowl, combine powder sugar and enough water for desired drizzling consistency; blend until smooth.
